On Wednesday 9th July we became The Dash Charity – Domestic Abuse Stops Here.
We’ve come from very humble beginnings back in 1976 and over the years have grown and developed our services to meet the needs of the victims that we support.
The range of teams and services we have on offer are far reaching and specialist, providing our clients with high quality tailored support.
Through careful planning and consultation with clients, staff, volunteers and key stakeholders we made the decision to move away from Berkshire East & South Bucks Women’s Aid. The team and clients involved shared they liked the simplicity of our new name and said our previous name wasn’t reflective of all the amazing services we have on offer, not to mention it being quite a mouthful.
We appreciate Dash also stands for Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Harassment and Honour Based Violence and links to the risk indicator checklist used with victims which identifies with other organisations on a national level too.
Berkshire East & South Bucks Women’s Aid will still be very much part of the charity and we are so proud of what we achieved under this name, however, as we are providing so many specialist services we want our name to encompass the broad range on offer and ensure we can reach out to anyone affected by domestic abuse ensuring individuals and families identify us.
Our door is always open to discuss opportunities to work together and share practices and learning with a common goal to support those affected by domestic abuse.
