Help Us Protect Children Affected by Domestic Abuse – Every Donation Doubled from Midday Tomorrow

From 12:00pm on Tuesday 2nd December, your donation to The Dash Charity will be doubled for one week only through the The Big Give Christmas Challenge, giving children affected by domestic abuse in our community the support they deserve.

What’s Happening & Why It Matters

From midday tomorrow (Tuesday 2nd December), The Dash Charity will take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, a powerful match-funding campaign where every donation is doubled for seven days only, until midday 9th December.

That means:

  • A £10 donation becomes £20

  • £25 becomes £50

  • £50 becomes £100 of direct support for children affected by domestic abuse in East Berkshire and South Bucks

Our target is £2,500, which means £5,000 of life-changing support for children and young people in our community.

But this only works if donations are made through the official Big Give link once the campaign opens at 12pm on 2nd December.

Why This Week Is So Important

At The Dash Charity, our mission is simple but vital:

We are here so people in our local communities can feel stronger and safer from abuse.

This Big Give campaign focuses specifically on children and young people.

With your support this week, we will:

  • Expand our advocacy and outreach team

  • Support more children affected by domestic abuse

  • Help young people develop the emotional and practical skills they need to feel safe, confident, and empowered

  • Work towards breaking the inter-generational cycle of abuse

Our aim is not just short-term support — it is to help build stronger, safer futures.

The Difference Your Support Makes

We see the impact of this work every day.

Matthew shared:
“I am now able to see a light at the end of the tunnel, where previously there was none.”

Mya told us:
“Thank you so much for helping me with my anxiety. I use the coping strategies that you showed me and they really work.”

And one teacher told us about a child they support:
“It has been wonderful to see him grow into a more carefree and confident child.”

These are not just words — they represent real children finding stability, confidence, and hope again.

A Child’s Story (Safeguarded Case Study)

Lena” (name changed) came to one of our services with her mum and younger brother after they had to leave their home suddenly due to domestic abuse.

At first, Lena appeared outwardly cheerful — always smiling, always trying to be “fine”. But through gentle, weekly therapeutic sessions with one of our children’s practitioners, she slowly began to understand that it was okay not to feel okay.

Through age-appropriate activities, emotion-recognition games, and trust-building conversations, Lena learned:

  • That she was not responsible for the abuse she had seen

  • That her feelings mattered

  • That fear, sadness, and anger were valid — and could be safely expressed

Over time, her confidence grew. She began to speak up more, recognise her emotions, and feel safer in her world again.

Stories like Lena’s are made possible only through consistent, specialist support — the exact support this Big Give campaign helps to fund.
